SPEAKER
& TOPIC
: This
month's speaker is Chris Lechowicz from the
Sanibel Captiva Conservation Foundation. He is the vice-president of the Calusa
Herpetological Society, as well as a local herpetologist. The title of his talk
is "Laws, permits and legislation trends in the
modern herp world". Chris will be going over the basics of
federal, state and local laws concerning the trade, collection and possession
of amphibians and reptiles as well as what the future holds for these
activities. We hope for this to be an interactive session with the audience. So
feel free to add to the presentation with examples or corrections to the
information given. As we all know, laws, regulations and permitting is
constantly changing.
WHO'S INVITED ? You are! Anyone with an interest in any aspect of herpetology or herpetoculture is welcome to attend, learn, and exchange their experiences with our friendly membership. Come out to meet others who keep, breed or study reptiles and amphibians, and let them share their fascination with you. We average 20 –40 people attending every meeting.
Cookies and cold soda, a nightly raffle of live herps, herp products, and books follow each speaker's talk, and lots of herp camaraderie, gossip, and fun can be counted upon at all meetings !
