The Calusa Herpetological Society
Of Southwest Florida
Thursday, January 1, 2009 - 7:00 pm
SPEAKER & TOPIC : Tonight is a special movie night to celebrate the history of herp breeding and the industry that evolved around it. The 1-hour TV-style documentary -- “ReptileMania” -- will be shown in its entirety. This ‘movie’ is a behind-the-scenes visual tour of the rise of herpetoculture with re-enactments and interviews with some of the primary shakers and movers who participated in shaping how the trade has grown. The whole presentation was filmed to answer the question: “What’s all this hoopla over keeping reptiles in captivity about?” It’s especially aimed at serious-minded people who are curious about all those new ‘reptile nuts’ to show them that the love of herps is now a full-fledged business and hobby pursuit. Bill Love, the co-creator, will be on hand to explain things as it plays.
Plus.... in appreciation of everyone's help throughout the year, the society is providing pizza and drinks at this meeting. Bring the family down and have dinner on us while we watch the movie. Happy New Year!
WHO'S INVITED ? You are! Anyone with an interest in any aspect of herpetology or herpetoculture is welcome to attend, learn, and exchange their experiences with our friendly membership.
