The Calusa Herpetological Society
Of Southwest Florida

SPEAKER & TOPIC :  Tonight is a special movie night to celebrate the history of herp breeding and the industry that evolved around it.  The 1-hour TV-style documentary -- “ReptileMania” -- will be shown in its entirety.  This ‘movie’ is a behind-the-scenes visual tour of the rise of herpetoculture with re-enactments and interviews with some of the primary shakers and movers who participated in shaping how the trade has grown.  The whole presentation was filmed to answer the question:  “What’s all this hoopla over keeping reptiles in captivity about?”  It’s especially aimed at serious-minded people who are curious about all those new ‘reptile nuts’ to show them that the love of herps is now a full-fledged business and hobby pursuit.  Bill Love, the co-creator, will be on hand to explain things as it plays.
