Herps and the Law Panel Discussion

Tonight's meeting is a discussion about Herps and the Law. Did you know that there was a Herps and Law symposium (Issues in Reptile & Amphibian Conservation & Culture) last year on Oct 31- Nov 1, 2018 in Maryland? Representatives from the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, state agencies, the scientific community, commercial breeders and dealers, and hobbyists were in attendance to discuss the current state of affairs with legislation in regards to herps and where it was headed. Two people that attended that conference, Curt Harbsmeier- attorney/long-time herp aficionado and Marc Cantos - the Turtle Source,  will be at tonight's meeting and will serve on a panel (as well as one or two others) to discuss what was was talked about at the symposium and to further the discussion about current herp law, future legislation, etc. among our group. This is an excellent time to ask questions about current herp laws and bring forth ideas, worries, opinions, and just any kind of discussion related to this topic. We are sure it will be a very enlightening and passionate discussion.

WHO'S INVITED ? You are! Anyone with an interest in any aspect of herpetology or herpetoculture is welcome to attend, learn, and exchange their experiences with our friendly membership. Come out to meet others who keep, breed or study reptiles and amphibians, and let them share their fascination with you. We average 20 – 35 people attending every meeting.

Cookies and cold soda, a nightly raffle of live herps, herp products, and books follow each speaker's talk, and lots of herp camaraderie, gossip, and fun can be counted upon at all meetings !
