Speaker Information: This month's speaker will be Colonel Roger Young, the Executive Director of FWC. This is an unprecedented and special honor for an FWC executive director to take the time to speak to the herp community in a public forum, such as a herp meeting. You will not want to miss this meeting.
Roger grew up in Miami, where he spent a lot of time fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He attended Florida State university (FSU) receiving a degree in social science with an emphasis on environmental science. He worked in FWC law enforcement in the Southwest Region of Florida since the mid-1990's until he was promoted to Colonel in 2021. Colonel Young is a graduate of the FBI National Academy, the National Association of Conservation Law Enforcement Chiefs Academy, and the FDLE Senior Leadership Program. Colonel Roger Young, was the Director of FWC's Division of Law Enforcement, before he was made Executive Director of all of Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) in May 2023.
This meeting will be held in the Planetarium at the Calusa Nature Center instead of the Nature Center due to the special honor and expected high attendance.
After
the meeting, you are invited to join us at a nearby restaurant (announced at
the meeting) for more herp discussions and camaraderie over food and drinks.
See you there!
